Towards the end of a winter's day, thousands of birds fly into the lakes to spend the night.
On Saturday 10th January, we are having a special event focusing on these birds that fly in to spend the night on the reserve.
There will be wildlife guides based around the blue trail to show you what is happening and to give a running commentary as the birds arrive, and a guided walk from the Centre.
Make a bird feeder to take home, and cosy up as we read a bedtime story for the kids.
Watch out for little egrets flying past, reed buntings flying into the reeds and thousands of gulls arriving on the sailing lake as they get ready for bed at Lackford Lakes.
How to get here
The reserve is about ten minutes from Bury St Edmunds on the A1101, Bury to Mildenhall Road.
There is on site car and bicycle parking.
